Ruvini Ferris, LegalShield Associate

Ruvini Ferris, LegalShield Associate

When Ruvini Arseculeratne moved to Discovery Bay three and a half years ago, she knew this was where she wanted to build her home and career. She relocated from Southern California with her fiancé; and finding Discovery Bay was “more of an accident” she explained. “Kevin and I lived in Southern California, and his work transferred him to San Jose,” she said. “We were engaged at the time, and I would travel up from Torrance to visit him. We were looking for a home in and around Fremont, when Kevin’s friend mentioned Discovery Bay.”

They were enamored with the waterfront homes and beautiful delta community, and bought their dream home on the water.  Kevin was able to commute to work, but Ruvini knew she would have to start anew, so she began to look for part-time income opportunities. Kevin introduced her to LegalShield, a network marketing company that allows her to work from home, and she liked what she saw. “I was impressed with how easy it was for families and small businesses to get legal services,” she said. “I could help people while building my business from home.”

Ruvini immediately joined the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce, and before long was elected as a director on its board. “I knew no one,” she explained, “I knew I needed to get involved in the community, so I joined the Chamber. It opened doors for me.” Her few hours a week quickly turned into a full-time passion.

According to Ruvini, people are often faced with situations where they could use legal protection, whether it be help with estate planning, to dispute an incorrect invoice, deal with the fallout from identity theft, or need counsel for an impending lawsuit. When confronted with these precarious circumstances, most people believe they are unable to afford a lawyer to assist them. For as low as $20 per month, LegalShield members get access to attorneys who are experienced in the areas of law that most impact families and small businesses. LegalShield provides access to affordable legal services for individuals, families, and small businesses from a network of attorneys for a low flat monthly rate; “for the cost of a bottle of water a day,” Ruvini pointed out.

Ruvini likened a LegalShield plan to an insurance policy. “Knowing you have access to an attorney for any possible matter, and that you and your entire family are covered, is just like having insurance,” she said. “And this is such a great program for small businesses that can’t afford $350 an hour for legal help.”  Depending on the plan, legal services for small businesses can include everything from document reviews, contracts, employee issues and debt collection letters.

LegalShield also offers one of the industry’s most affordable identity theft plans. “The holidays are especially a good time to be sure you are protected from identity theft,” Ruvini said. “And our protection plan covers the entire family.”

Ruvini and Kevin Ferris were married in October this year, and now work together as Independent Associates (Kevin is part-time) for LegalShield. “We became LegalShield members right away, so we could realize the value of what we were offering,” said Ruvini. “It’s a great feeling knowing we have legal and identity protection.”

LegalShield has dedicated law firms in 49 states and four provinces in Canada and protects more than 3.5 million people in North America while maintaining an impressive A+ BBB grade for 15 years. The attorneys at these firms have an average of 19 years of experience in such areas as family matters, estate planning, financial and business issues, consumer protection, tax, real estate, benefits disputes and auto/driving issues.
